Took 1600 pics on recent travel, including low light museum and standard outdoor. Camera efficiently captured 98% all good quality, without my needing to use improvement edits in photo software on computer. Did use abilities of camera in various conditions and highly pleased with results. Sporting and fun to use my own, and it’s ability. Great medium range camera with the quality and flexiblity to give very good pictures without all the fumble of heavyweights.

My Grandaughter just loves her camera. Pink, being her color, was a big hit in itself. The fact that it was small and easy to take pictures, gave her reason to sneek it to school and get pictures of all her friends. She’s learning the ease of it needs to have it’s place though. For the price I paid, this was an excellent starter camera. I don’t believe there was a better deal for me, and i don’t regret my choice.

The Kit lenses that come with it are both pretty good, you can try out both lenses and see what kind of range you typically use. Later you can dump them for a better lens. In the past Canon’s kit lens were so awful the cheaper olympus kit took better pictures. Today i’m not so sure, however this is still the cheaper kit. Also keep in mind Olympus lenses are generally cheaper than Canon but your lens selection is also much smaller.

Pros:
Photo quality was good. They’re a little soft but that’s expected, it’s a cheapie lens afterall. Photoshop it if you want it to be sharper or cough up the bucks for a 12-60mm lens. Google for unsharp mask if you want to photoshop.
>500 pictures per battery charge. It lasted quite awhile. I came back with thousands of pictures from my vacation, didn’t have a problem with just one battery.
Comes with an external battery charger, you don’t have to charge your batteries in the camera. So go ahead and buy those cheap generic batteries, if it explodes during charging your camera is safe. Unless it explodes in your camera. But let’s hope that doesn’t happen, and that you’re not holding it.

Cons:
I would have liked to see a higher workable ISO range, ISO800 is about as high as I’ll go. If you’re just printing on 4×6 this is plenty fine. Keep in mind if you pop on a polarizer you lose light.
I would also have liked to have more options when it came to AES bracketing, it only snaps 3 shots +/- 1EV. Most of us don’t need it anyway.

Other stuff to get:
Get a 58mm Hoya Circular Polarizer filter, don’t buy Tiffen. It’s a waste of money. And don’t buy Linear Polarizer just because it’s cheaper either, it could mess with autofocus.
Decent tripod, i bought a Dolica because I’m cheap. It’s actually pretty good, not too flimsy, the kit lenses aren’t heavy enough to make it sink/wobble. Anything better will probably be >0, if you’re willing to spend >0 for a tripod, spend the money on a newer camera.
Generic infrared remote, great for photos with that cheap Dolica tripod. Best ever.
